SCCM 2007 Hotfix to manage Windows 8 and Server 2012 clients

There is a SCCM 2007 Hotfix available for download which will allow you to manage Windows 8 and Server 2012 clients without having to upgrade to Config Mgr 2012.

That is the good news, however the bad news is you still can’t deploy a Windows 8 or Server 2012 OSD image using SCCM 2007 – for that you have to use Config Mgr 2012.

So what can you do with the SCCM 2007 Hotfix installed?

Well on-top of being able to manage Windows 8 and Server 2012 clients, you can do the following:

• Software Distribution
• Software Update Management
• Dersired Configuration Management (DCM)

Hope this helps you guys out and at least makes it a little less painful to manage Windows 8 or Server 2012 clients until you get the chance to move to Config Mgr 2012.
